How to Build a Small Hothouse - Cutting Glass
Glass Cutting Needs Precision
The average handyman rarely has command of a diamond cutter but a
very good little wheel cutter can be bought for a couple dollars. Points
to note are that the tool should, be put away in its box to avoid rust
and should not be tested by running the wheel across the hand. Almost
any thickness of glass can be cut with one of these wheels. Use a drop
of turps and make a firm smooth cut with the wheel kept true and
vertical by means of a straight-edge. A single stroke carried through
from edge to edge should be sufficient. Do not attempt the same cut
twice. The cutting should of course be done on a perfectly level
surface, preferably covered with a cloth or newspaper;. When the cut has
been made lift the sheet and tap it gently on the underside to complete
the break.
