How to Build a Small Hothouse - Ventilation

Bracket "A" made from 3/4 in. x 3-16in. mild
steel will serve for spring blinds and 'B" for
the others, but a good feature about type "A"
is that it can be controlled sidewise and pre-vented from flapping about with possible damage
to glass.

This control is explained by the roof and the small sketch above, showing a length
of fence wire fixed on two battens. The bottom
batten of the blind can be guided along the
wire by means of small staples such as are
used for door bolts, and the wire itself is fixed
to its own battens by turning a loop on each
end to take screws.
Air between blind and roof forms a cushion
which helps to keep the internal temperature
steady and for this latter purpose the blinds
are in frequent use even through the winter.
